Let's Dance International Festival, an official Cultural Olympiad project reflecting the rich diversity of Leicester and beyond runs from 12 - 27 May 2012.
The Let's Dance International Festival brings a number of new companies to Leicester presenting the best in dance from around the world with artists from the Caribbean, South Africa, Namibia, India, Spain and the UK.
The Programme has something for everyone, with artists like FLAWLESS - who launch the festival in Orton Square on International Dance Day (Sunday 29 April 2012). UK's leading choreographer, television presenter, judge and Ambassador for Big Dance 2012, Arlene Phillips, is in conversation with Saira Khan (star of the Apprentice, BBC TV presenter and business woman) talking about her career in dance. Ballet Black, a unique all Black ballet company, will be performing at the Curve, Leicester. L'Acado from Jamaica will also be at Curve, as part of the 50th Anniversary of Jamaica's independence.
Let's Dance International Festival continues to work with young people and will be hosting a series of schools workshops, run by Irie Dance Company, L'Acadco and Daksha Sheth Company,
Dance on Film in partnership with Phoenix Square, will bring the most up-to-date releases in urban street dance from StreetDance 2 to issue-based work that captures a range of dance styles and initiative in choreographic practice.
