Trinity Laban is an internationally renowned conservatoire of music and dance, offering education and training at pre-HE, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Situated in south-east London, the faculty of Dance (formerly known as Laban) is located in a new building specially designed for dance, which was voted RIBA building of the Year 2003.
Trinity Laban, is seeking to appoint a highly committed and knowledgeable dance science practitioner to join the teaching team on our Centre for Advanced Training (CAT). This post offers an exciting opportunity to work practically with talented young people and contribute to the training of future dance artists within a prestigious contemporary dance conservatoire, where dance science is a flourishing and research active discipline.
The Trinity Laban CAT is part of a nationwide DfE scheme that aims to offer young people with exceptional talent and potential in dance, the opportunity to access high quality dance training. At Trinity Laban the young people attend classes all day Saturday and some evenings during the week. The male and female students are taught separately for contemporary and ballet technique, as well as for PEn, but are mixed together for the creative programme.
The CAT Performance Enhancement (PEn) Teacher will be responsible for the planning, delivery, and development of the performance enhancement and health curriculum of the CAT programme. You will consult with and work alongside the technique and creative teachers, as well as monitor and oversee CAT students’ health, fitness and well-being by organising physiotherapy treatments as necessary, and supporting individual students’ injury prevention and recovery programmes. It should be noted that this is a teaching and not a treatment role.
Additionally, the PEn teacher will be a Tutor for the programme, responsible for the pastoral care of a group of students, contributing as required to the tutorial and student support programme, as well as liaising with students’ parents/carers.
We are looking for an innovative dance science professional who is interested to join the CAT team of dance artists, teachers and dance science and health professionals, who together are committed to developing new practice for the teaching of young people.
Flexible working will be required including regular Saturday and evening work and a CRB check.
(Part-time, 14 hours per week) (Permanent)
Post to start 1 April 2012
