Scottish Dance Theatre - Pathways to the Profession Symposium
Why are there so few disabled artists on our stage and screens? Who is nurturing the growth of the next generation of disabled artists? A response to the Symposium led by Scottish Dance Theatre, which explored the issues inhibiting the inclusion of physically and sensory disabled people in performing arts
The Pathways to the Profession Symposium held on 19th and 20th January in Dundee brought together disabled and non-disabled dance artists and other arts professionals from across the UK for two days of inspiring performances, presentations and in-depth discussions, which led to a commitment to making things happen in the future rather than just talking about them.
Mat Fraser was a brilliant Chair keeping things moving and pulling things together in equal measure.
Overall this conference was a powerful stepping off point for the Foundation’s concerns to ensure that disabled people have equal and quality access to go as far as their ambitions and dreams can take them in dance.
Thank you Scottish Dance Theatre and Caroline Bowditch, Dance Agent for Change for getting us all together.
