Internships in the Arts

A new guide to Internships in the Arts is providing advice on how to develop mutually beneficial employment opportunities, and sets out the legal obligations for arts and cultural organisations offering internships.
Published through a collaboration between Arts Council England and Creative & Cultural Skills, the guide recommends an open and fair recruitment process based on a wider internship and equal opportunities policy. It also says that internships should offer meaningful experiences that contribute to the aims of the organisation and interns that at least national minimum wage should be paid.
"We recognise the mutual benefits of a well-planned internship for both individuals interested in a career in the arts and arts organisations themselves, so we want to set out the responsibilities employers have when offering this kind of position."
Creative & Cultural Skills.
