Back in 2014, People Dancing came up with a concept to positively profile Deaf and disabled people who dance. It was hoped it would help bring about a step change in the way people – whether they’re disabled or
non-disabled – see them.
With funding from Unlimited Impact, emerging photographer Sean Goldthorpe was commissioned to create 20 high quality images inspired by iconic dance moments from film. In these stylish and challenging images, Deaf and disabled people are centre stage as they re-imagine memorable dance scenes from a broad range of well-known films.
The images were to inspire a much wider 11 Million Reasons to Dance programme of work that is helping all of us, not just People Dancing, get serious about art for and by disabled people.
