Professional Individual Members of People Dancing benefit from Public Liability and Professional Indemnity of up to £10 million, plus Legal Expenses protection and a Personal Accident cover.

Sport, Recreation & Leisure Liability
  1. Sport, Recreation & Leisure Liability is the generic term for the insurance policy included within Professional Individual Membership comprising the following: Professional Indemnity, Public & Products Liability, Libel and Slander insurances. The limit of indemnity is £10 million
  2. Legal Expenses protection - Including the defence of criminal prosecution, civil defence and arrest assistance in respect of allegation of abuse.
  3. Personal Accident cover - Personal Accident cover is an additional benefit provided for insured members.

A brief summary of the cover (and excluded activities) is available to download to the below, however please note the following:

Cover can be provided for any recognised activity of People Dancing. Some specific exclusions are:

  • Yoga
  • Martial arts
  • Aerobics
  • Gymnastics
  • Pole dancing
  • Stunting
  • Trapeze
  • Aerial work

Dance Movement Therapy - where this is the main focus of your work. We can not cover full time practice of DMT. If you plan to undertake work you believe to be covered, but are concerned that it may fall within any of the above categories, please refer to us for clarification.

Additional insurance benefits available

Employers' Liability cover add-on

Employers' Liability insurance cover is available as an optional add-on to the insurance included within Professional Individual Membership.

Who is it for?
The Employers' Liability add-on is for those engaging employees, assistants, volunteers and/or other artists on an occasional basis, such as helping out with a project, performance or workshop.

How much does it cost?
The add-on can be purchased at any time throughout the insurance year for £47.50. The fee allows cover provided from the date purchased up until 31 March in each instance.

How do I get it?

Pilates cover add-on

Pilates cover is available as an optional add-on to the insurance included within Professional Individual Membership.

Who is it for?
The Pilates cover add-on is for the occasional practice of Pilates where it is not the main focus of work. It is available to those with a Level 3 Certificate which is recognised as the minimum qualification required by the sector to instruct Pilates.

How much does it cost?
The add-on can be purchased any time throughout the insurance year for £22.50.

How do I get it?
Choose the Pilates option at joining and email a copy of your Level 3 Certificate to a or send a copy to us in the post (please do not send originals).

Cost of Professional Individual Membership

The insurance provided is included as a benefit of Professional Individual Membership of People Dancing. Membership runs from 1 April to 31 March each year.

  • Joining between 1 April - 31 July costs from £85 - for 2016/17
  • Joining between 1 August - 30 November costs from £64 - for 2016/17
  • Joining between 1 December - 31 March costs from £38 - for 2016/17

(The above amounts are based on an annual turnover of up to £25,000. For information on higher turnover membership fees, please see the membership form on the Professional Individual Membership page. All fee categories are subject to a one off joining fee of £10).

Prices are inclusive of VAT. Joining at any point in the year provides you with Professional Individual Membership including insurance until 31 March.
