Big Dance
01 July 2006 - 01 July 2016
Big Dance was People Dancing's first national programme to get people dancing, presented from 2006 - 2016. We delivered Big Dance in partnership with the Mayor of London and a nationwide network of Big Dance Hubs. Following the final edition of the festival in 2016, we are continuing to develop the resources and support for the programme to establish a recurring, annual celebration for participation in dance.

Big Dance Pledge Resources

The Big Dance Pledge is an opportunity for dance practitioners and enthusiasts to take part in a unifying performance and creative process with other groups across the globe. Since 2012, people from around the world have been learning, creating and rehearsing new dance performances as part of the Big Dance Pledge.

Using our free online films and teaching resources, created each year by a different guest company and choreographer, we have seen over 500,000 dancers from more than 60 different countries and territories sign up and get dancing in the unique ways and places that are best for each group.

Big Dance, as a summer festival of dance events, ended with 2016 as its final edition. People Dancing, in partnership with international, national, regional and local artists and organisations aim to maintain The Big Dance Pledge in future years and ensure the sets of resources are available for permanent, ongoing, free use around the world.
