The international event created a global opportunity to share practice and approaches to engagement across different international, social, economic and political contexts - wherever and however people work in dance.
More than 400 artists, teachers and leaders gathered from across the world to watch and talk about their work, inspired and provoked by keynote presentations from world-class figures. The event saw us announce a change in our name - from the Foundation for Community Dance to People Dancing.
Resources, including presentations and film, from the event are available to view here.
Wales Commissions
As part of our aim to reflect the host nation's experience of community and participatory dance, we commissioned four artists / organisations in Wales to develop their practice and, in three cases, create new performance works to be shared at the event. This programme was supported by the Arts Council of Wales and allowed the unique history, culture and infrastructure of community dance in Wales to be reflected in the event's international programme.
Information from the creative processes of each of these artists / organisations, including photography and film, are available to view here in both English and Welsh.
