A new English Folk Dance club is starting in Camden on September 6th. Formed by the members of what was called the “Beginners’ Class” at Cecil Sharp House (though some had been attending for years), our aim is to keep the tradition of English folk dancing alive in London. Rather than running a commercial venture, all the callers will be volunteers and give their time for free, or with just expenses paid. This means that the charge for the dance is quite low, just £5 per head. There will be an emphasis on developing skills and style for all and it will be suitable for both beginners and experienced dancers. We will welcome newcomers who want to come for an evening and see what English Folk Dancing is about. Also we will give help and advice to anyone who wants to be a caller. The two regular callers at the Beginners’ Class, David Kerridge and Brenda Goodrich, will both be leaving CSH and moving to the new club. The Camden English Folk Dance club will be dancing every Wednesday from 7.30pm at Primrose Hill Community Centre, starting 6th September. There is a special price of £2.50 for the first evening.
£2.50 for the first evening. £5 thereafter
