The Mercers Company Education Programme
The Mercers Company makes grants to Charities and State Maintained schools to improve the availability and quality of educational opportunities for children and young adults, especially in London and in particular areas of the West Midlands - Walsall, Sandwell and Telford

The Company is particularly interested in, and will give priority to projects that:
  • Encourage participation in Science, Maths and Technology
  • Improve educational achievement, particularly for young people aged 5-19
  • Offer educational opportunities for underachieving groups
  • Enrich educational opportunity through innovative projects that use art, drama, dance, music and sport
  • Build students' social capital, confidence and life skills.

Recent grants awarded include:
  • Phoenix Secondary and Primary School which received a grant of £8,000 towards a two-year autism project, Autism Ambassadors, developed to address issues around the inclusion of pupils on the autistic spectrum.
  • Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership which received a grant of £20,000 towards the Aim2Attain programme which provides young people with support from the local business community, enabling them to raise aspirations and progress to University.
The next meeting of the Education Committee is the 15th October 2015. Applications need to be submitted at least 6 weeks beforehand.
