Chance to Dance is Royal Opera House's flagship talent development programme and they are now seeking to appoint a dedicated Chance to Dance Project Manager to lead the programme as it carves out a bold new direction and builds a national presence.

Ballet and opera capture the deepest emotions and tell universal stories. The Royal Opera House wants to share these life-changing artforms and their power to move and excite with as many people as we can.

Their extensive Learning and Participation programme encourages participation and deepens learning, offering people of all ages the chance to discover and question artforms and create their own responses to opera and ballet.

Their ambition is to ignite interest and passion in our artforms, open up opportunities to diversify the talent pipeline and build a culturally literate and creative nation.

This work involves:

  • Maintaining key partnerships with primary schools, dance artists, bursary children and their families, as well as regional partners and stakeholders
  • Administration of schedules, meetings, events and the project budget, as well as taking on a producer role for the annual performances, managing evaluation processes and feeding into the strategic development of the project
  • Communication with artists, schools, parents and staff in the Learning and Participation department and across the Royal Opera House and dance sector
  • Managing in-school delivery, Easter School, annual performances, Continued Professional Development (CPD) and bursaries.

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your experience of dance education and project management to one of the UK`s busiest theatre.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Significant experience of managing a flagship project of national significance with schools and cultural organisations
  • Demonstrable knowledge of quality teaching practice in ballet and dance contexts and associated curriculum development
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence, act decisively and problem solve
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluent English
  • Excellent project management skills with strong organizational, administrative and time management skills and proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Strong ability to build and manage positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders in internal and external settings.
