Role

  • The School of Visual and Performing Arts wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Dance with a specialism in Dance Education and Community Dance practice, to start in September 2018 on a permanent contract.
  • The BA (Hons) Dance degree at De Montfort University is characterised by its focus on contemporary practices and ideas in dance techniques; choreography for live performance and screen; performance; dance appreciation, and dance and professional practices.
  • The programme has a specific exit award titled 'Dance (Education and Community)'.

Ideal Candidate

  •  You will have in depth current knowledge of, and practical expertise in community and/or educational dance and professional practices.
  • Experience of teaching in Higher Education, coupled with designing, delivering and evaluating participatory dance projects is essential.
  • You will provide specialist teaching in community dance; dance education and related professional practices and will assist in the development of this strand of the curriculum.
  • You will build upon existing links and develop new opportunities to support students' embedded placements.
  • You will contribute to modules such as Dance Technique; Choreography; Placements, Creative Enterprise and Dance Appreciation.
