We are looking for a committed, and collaborative Participation Support to join our small, friendly staff team.
To work closely with the Participation team to support the delivery and smooth running of South East Dance’s Participation programme.

The Participation Support will be based at The Dance Space, the new home for dance in Brighton. With three dance studios, one of which converts into 123 seat performance space, alongside office space and meetings rooms, The Dance Space is a place where dance artists and people from all sorts of different backgrounds can explore dance on an equal . The building has been built with excellent access facilities and environmental standards and we aim to enhance these aspects in the way we run our programmes and operate the building.

As Participation Support you will be responsible for the administration and delivery supporting the Participation programme of activity. You will work closely with the Participation Producer to ensure that all activity is delivered in an effective and integrated way.

Key aspects of the role are:

  • Undertake the administration of the Participation Programme
  • Support the team with the planning and delivery of our Participation activities across the city and wider across the South East
  • Liaise with artists, participants, community partners and our South East Dance Steering Group.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to take their first step in their arts administration career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • To work at all times to deliver and represent the mission, values and strategic aspirations of South East Dance as outlined on our website
  • To work closely with the Participation team to support their project management and administrative needs
  • To support and deliver key projects as directed, ensuring targets and activities are delivered to a high standard
  • To undertake research, and assist in report writing as requested, to a high standard.

SPECIFIC TASKS

Project Support

  • Project administration as directed i.e. support the drafting and sending of contracts, liaising with artists, arts organisations, partners and companies, compiling information for the communications and fundraising teams, filing, responding to emails
  • To support the SED programme team with evaluation, writing and reporting requirements in line with the needs of the funders and South East Dance
  • To undertake and assist with research that supports projects and wider company activities
  • To attend regional and national meetings and conferences, as appropriate and as directed
  • To keep clear and consistent records and data relating to allocated projects
  • To liaise with freelance artists and staff
  • To support the development of risk assessments and ensure standards of good practice are met, working to all legislation and company policy on equality, health and safety and safeguarding.

Marketing and communications

To liaise with Communications staff to create dynamic and relevant marketing materials, contribute to SED social and digital media and raise the profile of the programme and South East Dance.

Administration

To draft agendas and ensure minutes are recorded and distributed for meetings and other meetings as directed.

General duties applicable to all South East Dance staff

  • To undertake all activities in compliance with South East Dance’s policies and procedures in particular those for Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, Environmental Sustainability, and Health and Safety
  • To promote the values and activities of South East Dance
  • To participate in the staff appraisal scheme and undertake professional development activities as required
  • To attend regional and national meetings and conferences, as appropriate
  • To attend regular evening and occasional week-end events which form part of South East Dance’s programme activity
  • To undertake occasional reception cover and duty management of performances and events in The Dance Space as required
  • To be a key holder and to lock and unlock the building on departure and arrival as required
  • To undertake such other duties as may from time to time be allocated by the Artistic Director, Executive Director or the Board of Trustees.
