Advocacy and partnership working is key to the Dance for Parkinson’s Partnership UK (DfPP UK) in its commitment to build a vibrant and sustainable dance for Parkinson’s community across the UK and beyond. It is very keen to ensure that people living with Parkinson’s are at the heart of what it does.

So DfPP UK is inviting applications from individuals living with Parkinson’s to join its Practice Group as advisers. It is looking for individuals, preferably with a keen interest in or some experience of dance, who are keen to:

Contribute to and guide the DfPP UK dance programme
Offer new advocacy ideas for dance for Parkinson’s
Help stretch the knowledge and thinking of the UK’s dance for Parkinson’s sector
Support and challenge DfPP UK in its efforts to underpin sustainable dance for Parkinson’s activities across the UK.

Meetings take place 2-4 times a year, either in person or via Skype, Facetime, phone etc and there’s an annual forum. The appointment is for two years in the first instance and expenses are available to attend meetings if required.

There’s a growing body of evidence that points to the real physical, mental and social benefits of dance for people living with Parkinson’s. This has led to significant growth in the delivery of opportunities for participation, training and professional development. DfPP UK supports the development of a confident, skilled and creative dance for Parkinson’s sector across the UK. This has increased opportunities to dance for individuals with Parkinson’s, their carers and families.

If you’d like to be considered for this role, please email kiki@communitydance.org.uk. Or if you’d prefer to do this via telephone or Skype, please email Kiki to arrange a convenient time. Also, if you have any questions or wish to discuss this opportunity, please do get in touch.

The deadline for receipt of submissions in this current round of recruitment is close of Friday 26 January 2018.
