Dance for Parkinson's - Summer School EQUIP bursaries
Date posted: 25 April 2017
The Dance for Parkinson’s Partnership at People Dancing is delighted to announce the Parkinson’s EQUIP bursary scheme for two dance artists to attend the Introduction to Dance for Parkinson’s course which will take place on 25 and 26 July 2017 at De Montfort University, in Leicester, as part of the People Dancing Summer School.

The course is led by David Leventhal from the Mark Morris Dance Group (New York) and Danielle Teale (independent practitioner) and will provide participants with an insight into how to structure dance classes for people with Parkinson’s, as well as focusing on the artistic imperative behind a Parkinson’s dance programme.
Artists will also gain an overview of the effects of the condition on dance participants, learn how to ensure safety for all participants, and benefit from the practical experience of devising and delivering content for a Dance for Parkinson’s class.

The Parkinson’s EQUIP bursary will cover courses fees (including the online learning course – a pre-requisite to attendance on the practical course) and self-catering accommodation. Successful candidates are asked to pay their travel costs to and from Leicester, breakfast and evening meals (lunch is provided).

We would particularly like to encourage applications from dance artists/practitioners working in diverse contemporary dance forms as these are currently under represented in this specialist area of practice.

If you are interested in this opportunity please send a cv and supporting statement of no more than 500 words to Tell us why you are interested in developing your skills in this area of dance practice and why a bursary would be important for you.

The deadline for applications is 9am on 19 May 2017.
