Adam Rutherford is an independent creative practitioner, performer and Artistic Director of the Birmingham-based Rutherford Dance Company and award-winning Rutherford Dance Company Youth.

He has a wealth of experience in performance, choreography and rehearsal/artistic direction around the world, working with the likes of Henri Oguike, Ben Wright, Luca Silvestrini, Matthew Bourne, Tamsin Fitzgerald, Hofesh Schecter, Enrique Cabrera, Rosie Kay, Gary Clarke, Wayne Sables and Helen Prior.

Adam has been commissioned to choreograph for numerous organisations both at home and abroad, including Trinity Laban (UK), caraBdanza (Madrid) and Accademia Internazionale Coreutica (Florence), where he was appointed international resident choreographer. He was re-appointed rehearsal director at 2Faced Dance Company for its 2016/17 tour.

Most recently, Adam has been awarded an inaugural DanceXchange DX Choreography Award 2017 and selected for the One Dance UK Dancers’ Mentoring Programme 2017-18. Over a career spanning more than 15 years, Adam boasts a successful track record in choreography, outreach, youth dance and professional dance, working with leading contemporary dance companies and organisations both nationally and internationally.

Adam is looking forward to meeting everyone at the Awards Ceremony, in July: “I feel honoured and excited to have been shortlisted alongside other practitioners from across the UK,” he said.
