This qualification introduces dance artists to key issues that may have an impact on people living with Parkinson's who participate in a dance session and planning requirements for the delivery of a safe dance experience.

It covers the following in relation to people living with Parkinson's: neurological changes that occur in the brain; potential physical and mental effects of Parkinson's on individuals; the potential impact of Parkinson's medication on a dance class participant; cueing techniques to support participation in dance practice; environmental considerations; structuring a safe participatory dance session.
Questions within the assessment are provided in a number of formats including multiple choice, true or false, textual comments about pictures, drag and drop and short written answers. Assessment guidance is available here.
A passing score is 60% or above.
The qualification forms the basis of a number of training courses offered by such training partners as People Dancing, Dance for PD®/ Mark Morris Dance Group, Dance for Parkinson’s Australia, and Dancing With Parkinson’s Canada/ Canada’s National Ballet School.
A standard price of £78 (approximately US $94) or at a preferential rate of £68 (approximately US $82) for members of Dance for PD® or People Dancing.
Multi-user license are available for organisations for groups of 6 or more leaners at rates starting at £35 per person (approximately US $42). Please email for further information. Additional discounts are also available for groups of 20+ users.
