Ruth Lee biography

Ruth Lee is a highly experienced and skilled arts manager with 29 years of experience which includes fundraising (all National Lottery programmes, trusts and foundations, private and public sector, and sponsorship), strategy and business planning, evaluation and reporting, people management, coaching and mentoring, chairing, writing and communications, project management, financial management, team building, income generation, strategic & tactical thinking, and facilitation.

Ruth set up and ran the Dance Development programme for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (2008-2011) supporting the development of training for local dance artists as well as programmes for early years and young people including the now firmly established county youth dance platform.

Ruth is currently the Director of Development for People Dancing where she is responsible with the Executive Director for income generation, including fundraising and leading the organisations communications and marketing.

Ruth has lead workshops in fundraising and development for dance artists as well as been a guest lecturer and speaker for several colleges and Universities. Ruth has worked independently as a fundraiser, mentor and coach. From 2016-2018 Ruth taught BTEC Level 3 Business and HND Creative Arts and is the co-author of People Dancing’s online learning programme, Developing Income Streams for participatory Arts Practice.

In her spare time Ruth is a committee member of SideKick Dance Company, a Leicester based dance group for disabled young people and Vice Chair of the Aakash Odedra Dance Company.
