Northern School of Contemporary Dance is seeking to appoint an Academic Administrator (Maternity Cover). The successful post holder will provide academic support across all academic programmes as part of the Student Services team. Duties and areas of responsibility include; timetabling, attendance, assessment, and committee and Board support.

Based in Leeds, we attract the most talented and committed students locally, nationally and internationally. The School is seeking to appoint an Academic Administrator.

The successful post holder will provide academic support across all academic programmes as part of the Student Services team. Duties and areas of responsibility include; timetabling, attendance, assessment, and committee and Board support.

Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed-term maternity cover for up to 12 months

Duties
  • Work with the Head of Performance/Director of Studies to set up standard termly timetables
  • Arranging musicians/visiting teachers, ensuring required checks have been satisfied, including issuing contracts as required
  • Arrange teaching/musician cover 
  • Other timetables i.e. induction/healthy dancer days
  • Produce electronic registers, including module and timetable via, the Student Record System iSAMS
  • Monitoring attendance
  • Producing attendance reports to feed into Student Review Board
  • Communicating with students on attendance notifications and SRB actions as required
  • Approving authorised absences and maintaining database
  • Monitor weekly UKVI attendance  
  • Set up matrices and feedback forms
  • Maintaining assessment files/matrices
  • Preparation of transcripts/aggregate sheets and marks transfer
  • Maintaining records for mitigation
  • Managing the NSCD Turnitin account including assignment submission.
  • Distribute marks and feedback to students.
  • Preparation of final results sheets as appropriate to respective validating bodies, ensuring regulations are applied.
  • Submit marks to the University of Kent SDS system as required
  • Provide support/training on iSAMS to staff where required, managing staff accounts.
  • Maintain electronic student records on iSAMS
  • Liaising with iSAMS Support Centre 
  • Act as minute taker for Teaching Staff meetings
  • Act as Clerk to Academic Board, Learning & Teaching Committee, SRB and Board of Examiners /Awards Board including the distribution of papers and recording accurate minutes of meetings for circulation 
  • Deputise for the Head of Academic Registry as required to provide support to Committees/Boards throughout the academic year
  • Maintain the student intranet on a timely basis, accurately updating the records and expanding/improving the information available as necessary.
  • Assist the Head of Academic Registry in timely preparation and circulation of the Student Handbooks and Programme Handbooks.
  • Assist with the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and HESES returns.
  • Undertake general administrative duties as required.
  • Be first point of contact for student academic enquiries and re-direct to other appropriate members of staff if necessary.
  • Prepare and timetable student surveys as required as part of a team.
  • Undertake staff development where considered necessary.
  • Support all agreed Quality Assurance Systems within the College.
