A Mind Apart is seeking to recruit a Performing Arts Tutor to work with the Managing Director and Project Manager, to plan and deliver a project sessions and classes throughout Sheffield.

A Mind Apart Theatre Company Limited is a small Social Enterprise based in Sheffield. We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic performing arts tutor for our day and evening delivery throughout South Yorkshire. We are looking for someone able to work set sessions each week which may include evening and weekend work.

The appointee will be expected to have an interest and experience of working with children and young people and have or be working towards a qualification in performing arts and desirably, teaching. It is essential that the individual has an interest in progressing their career within education and community arts, with the view of working with A Mind Apart on a longer term basis.

Working closely with the Project Manager the applicant will be expected to plan and run after school clubs throughout the city, and maintain the basic administration around the classes they teach. We have immediate availability for this post throughout Sheffield. T

The opportunity may be suitable for someone starting out in their career or for someone already with a part-time job but wanting extra work. There will be opportunity for further teaching work and professional development throughout the organisation with other age groups, according to your experiences, qualifications and enthusiasm to work with us.

We are always happy to discuss working hours and where possible work around those individuals that also have part time work elsewhere, but this post is for weekly sessions which we would expect you to commit to until the end of the academic year at least.

It will be preferred if the candidate holds a driving license, although this is not essential. The chosen applicant must have a DBS check and may be subject to one if they do not currently hold one.

All relevant training will be given to the candidate, but those already holding safeguarding and first aid training may be at an advantage.

Contract: part-time, 10 - 25 hours (variable on contract)

This role will include:
  • Planning and teaching classes throughout the company from ages 5 years to adults
  • Delivering a range of projects for clients and partners, and in some cases supporting with planning these
  • Managing volunteers who support with the classes
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and partners throughout Sheffield South Yorkshire
  • Teaching and facilitating for a range of workshops/sessions that might need covering in the company
  • Report to the Managing Director and Project Manager on a regular basis
  • Other office administration where needed to support the Managing Director and Project Manager.
