Dance and London 2012
The Cultural Olympiad, which includes the Culture and
Education programme, is the wider festival that began when London became the
host city for the Olympics, at the closing ceremony of the Beijing Games in
2008. The Cultural Olympiad encompasses projects and events organised across
the country from national institutions to schools, community organisations and
individuals. Full details of the Cultural Olympiad and its broad range of
projects can be found at London 2012.
Big Dance 2012 is the UK wide programme celebrating dance
as part of the Cultural Olympiad and its finale, Festival 2012. Big Dance will
feature thousands of events inspired by dance. Flagship events for each region
of the UK will be organised by groups of organisations working together as Big
Dance Hubs, whilst they work with and support partners to coordinate local
events. Between 18 May - 9 September 2012, Big Dance events will take place in
all sorts of locations and in all dance styles which will all be open to
absolutely anyone. Read more about Big Dance 2012.
