"We have really enjoyed the dance sessions. They have been very varied using all kinds of props and different dance styles."
"Lovely music; relaxing and hard work! Good for the brain too!! Would love more dance opportunities..."
Sutton Coldfield class participants
Dancing Together was focused on delivering local dance activity across Warwickshire and the West Midlands, with the aim to also establish new communities alongside participants living with Parkinson’s and their families. The project offered over 150 dance classes reaching over 1,130 participants and their families.
In addition, we provided training for four emerging dance artists including online training, practical experience and mentoring sessions.
"I have enjoyed every minute of the shadowing experience because of this bursary led opportunity by People Dancing. This is the type of work I want to pursue."
"I now run a movement session for older people in Lichfield called Moving Together.
Some participants who attend have Parkinson’s and say... ‘now I feel well!"
Trainee dance artists
Marking the end of the project we delivered a sharing event in Coventry bringing all of our dancing community together for a day of meeting, talking, drinking tea and dancing!
"Everyone in the circle ready to dance was joyous, and, collectively everything we had worked for across the sessions... it was extraordinary to witness everyone coming together".
Yaël Owen, Head of Health & Wellbeing programmes at People Dancing
