Course summary
Developed and co-authored by People Dancing and the Urban Playground Team, this seven-unit online course will equip dancers, teaching artists and community practitioners with the skills and knowledge they need to improve or refresh their teaching skills within their community and participatory dance practice.
If you’re new to teaching, the course will introduce you to key skills and knowledge. If teaching is already part of your practice it will give you the chance to refresh and revisit ways of raising standards. Topics covered include:
- Pre-session preparation
- Session planning
- Class structure
- Teaching and learning theories
- Assessment and evaluation
- Developing good practice.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for those who are new to teaching and for more established teaching artists working with any population or in any context and is relevant to artists working with any population or across a wide range of contexts.
Gain a Professional Qualification/Certification
This course will assist you with the successful completion of assessments as part of the process of gaining the Professional Qualification/Certification Introduction to Teaching and Leading Dance in Community Contexts (Level 4 Diploma).
