Touchdown Dance was founded in1986 at Dartington College of Arts and continues to run to this day with the legacy from Steve Paxton and Anne Kilcoyne and the many others who sowed the seeds of inclusive practice.
We are still running inclusive dance and arts workshops and projects in the Northwest of England and around the UK and abroad.
There are 3 visually impaired and 2 sighted dancers currently in the company and many artists contributing as teachers, leaders and practitioners in our work such as the 5 year National Lottery Reaching Communities funded project.
Embody-Move delivers the Body-Mind Centering(R) Licensed program in the UK, and operates under the umbrella of Touchdown Dance.
We are seeking board members with experience in charity/company law, marketing, academia or general interest in supporting our charitable objects, research and publications etc.
Our beneficiaries include children, young people, adults and elderly of all abilities with a range of support needs (mental health, exclusion, disability, etc) as well as exclusion from participation in creative arts activity.
We have a book published by Intellectbooks.com that is being used as a text book in University/academic contexts - Inclusive Dance the Story of Touchdown Dance by Dr Katy Dymoke.
Please get in touch if you feel you could be a good fit, potentially able to attend meetings in and around Manchester/Greater Manchester and we can take it from there.
Body-Mind Centering(R) and BMC(R) are the registered service marks of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen used with permission.
