Move Dance Feel at 10: developing dance and health practice and training that is rooted in connection…
Date posted: 18 May 2026
For 10 years Move Dance Feel has been supporting women affected by cancer through dance. Founded by Emily Jenkins, it is a unique, female-led community, helping women feel more at home in their bodies, less alone in their experiences and better equipped to navigate the challenges that cancer brings…

At its heart, Move Dance Feel creates spaces for dance that are inclusive, responsive and participant-led. For women affected by cancer, this means opportunities to move in ways that are inspiring, and that feel right for them - supporting confidence and fostering a community of care.

Through our work women have expressed feelings of improved mood, better self-management of health, enhanced energy levels, greater body appreciation, reduced stress and anxiety, and stronger social connections.

A key part of Move Dance Feel's work is leading a Dance in Cancer Care movement. This term, which is central to our work brings together artists, facilitators, researchers and organisations working across dance and health, and specifically in cancer care, creating a shared space for learning, exchange and collaboration.

Those involved in the movement have completed Move Dance Feel's Dance in Cancer Care - Introductory Training programme, which offers an accessible entry point into our work. It provides insight as to how dance can; innovate cancer care services, support the wide-ranging physical, mental and social challenges associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment, and create vital communities of care that lead to individual and collective wellbeing.

It is offered in person or online which creates flexible routes, with the next course taking place in Autumn 2026 at Penny Brohn UK (cancer care centre) in Bristol.

In the Summer we will be working with The Place in London to deliver a 4-month Dance and Health - Advancing Your Practice programme, which interweaves with our Dance in Cancer Care - Practitioner Training course.

Designed by artists for artists, this course will offer a space for dance facilitators and teachers to come together to resource themselves, learn from one another, engage with reflexive practice, and explore the rewards and complexities of working in the field of dance and health. Our programmes and courses adopt a 'learn by doing' philosophy, where trainees are invited to further explore, evolve, test out and refine their practice in relation to wellbeing. They expand their creative tools, gain new ideas, refresh their thinking and grow in confidence - physically and mentally.

In our courses and training, Move Dance Feel's aim is to strengthen understanding of how dance enhances wellbeing and builds community, while supporting skills development and shaping a community of practice centred around artistry and deeply rooted in connection.
