This exciting opportunity will culminate in bringing together up to 8 established and emerging dancers to collaborate with the professional artistic team at IRIE! dance theatre, one of the UK’s leading companies championing African and Caribbean dance fusion and contemporary diasporic performance practices.
Together, participants will co-create and perform an original 20-minute work rooted in African and Caribbean movement traditions, contemporary fusion, and the lived experiences of diasporic communities in the North, exploring the theme of ‘Freedom'. The piece will premiere at the African Routes 2026 Triple Bill performance alongside IRIE! dance theatre’s professional company and featured guest artists.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with professional choreographers and performers
- Explore African and Caribbean movement alongside contemporary fusion practices
- Gain insight into the professional creative process
- Build connections with dancers and creatives across Liverpool
- Showcase their talent in inclusive and welcoming artistic spaces.
They welcome artists and students from global majority and ethnically diverse backgrounds, as well as artists working in African/Caribbean fusion and related movement practices, who are passionate about creativity, storytelling, and performance.
