Freelance Argentine Tango Dance Teacher for our award-winning tango dance school and community group: Tango E14. Looking for a pool of freelance Argentine Tango Dance teachers. Your role is to teach the 1.5 hr drop-in class/ session before the milonga. We work inclusively meaning we welcome warmly all types of bodies and abilities. It is the teacher’s responsibility to create a warm atmosphere to make everybody feel welcome, safe and inspired to dance, improvise and to achieve. Necessary skills and experiences:
- Being able to plan a class around a given topic.
- Prepare and plan progressive tango dance classes for in the community.
- Being able to teach the level of technique suitable for the dancers you have that day or otherwise being able to adapt it. Make sure all level of dancers feel they have achieved/ got something out of your lesson.
- Being able to demonstrate adequate level of tango technique.
- Able to teach classes to mixed ability group (from complete beginners to very experienced dancers).
- Being able to differentiate and adapt technique exercises and choreographed sequences.
- Able to teach with a clear class structure, e.g. warm up, solo technique exercises, travel exercises, couples exercises, set sequence and improvisation. No need to teach a cool down as most dancers stay for the milonga after.
- Ability to improvise and problem solve on the spot.
- Open to teaching people with minor disabilities and learning impairments.
- Create a warm, safe and inspiring atmosphere in your classes.
Preferable have experience in working inclusively and with people in the community.
Preferably have experience in leading movement activities to groups of people.
Preferably have a teaching qualification or working towards one (can be teaching in any movement or dance style).
Trainee teachers welcome to apply as training for right candidate can be provided. Mentoring available by level 6 qualified dance teacher with 19 years of experience.
Be able and willing to commute to East London, Isle of Dogs.
