Rooted in the 2000+ year-old tradition of Bharatanatyam from South India, this workshop offers a unique twist - fusing various styles, music, and practices that reflect Shreya’s diasporic background. All skill levels and backgrounds are welcome to come together through dance, explore new techniques, and share in the experience!
About Shreya Vadnerkar
Shreya is a British-Indian Performing Artist specialising in Bharatanatyam, Bollywood and a new found passion for Breaking (Breakdance). She has trained at Nupur Arts Dance Academy under Guru Ji’s; Smita Vadnerkar, Shyla Rajwadha and Bhagya Laksmi Thyagarajan and has further trained in the styles of tap, modern & street from a young age.
She has taken to the stage and camera with her acting work both in the UK and Internationally. Some of her recent achievements include featuring in the TUI Thailand advert, playing a lead female role in the touring production, Patel’s Millions, being invited to and performing at Dialled In Festival with her solo Breakin Boundaries, featuring in the Marvel Eternals film as a Bollywood dancer & being the sole representative of b-girls (female breakdancers) in the BBC Women in Sports campaign.
She also joined her dance partner Shree Savani on stage for BBC Young Dancer 2019 for the Category and Grand Finals and went onto performing at Latitude Festival.
Her recent dance work includes her self-choreographed solo ‘Breakin Boundaries’ based on her British Indian experience of belonging. As well as this, Shreya broadens her skillset through various aspects of the Arts through her role as Associate Director of Nupur Arts Dance Academy, Leicester’s leading South Asian dance organisation.
