Working closely with the DCD team, the group’s purpose is to contribute ideas and solutions, surface risks and challenges, and ensure these insights feed directly into DCD’s vision and strategy. All members will have the opportunity to voluntarily Chair a meeting.
We want to hear from a genuine diversity of voices, people whose experiences and perspectives reflect the breadth of the community we serve. We will prioritise those who are marginalised, underrepresented or underserved in both our programmes and the wider dance ecosystem.
Who should apply?
These roles are open to anyone across the UK who wants to help make DCD a better organisation for all dancers. We are particularly keen to hear from current or former dancers (of any age) from Commercial, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and South Asian dance forms, and especially those:
- who experience ableism
- who experience racism
-
who are parents or carers
-
who are from the LGBTQI+ community
-
who identify as male and/or non-binary
- who have intersecting identities and lived experiences, recognising that experiences of marginalisation are often interconnected.
What is the commitment?
You will need to commit to being a member for two years, and attend three 90-minute meetings per year: taking place in June, November and March. The first session will take place in-person, with all other sessions to take place online via Teams.
What will you be paid?
Each freelance committee member will receive £75 for attending a meeting. If you choose to Chair a meeting, this increases to £100, which includes a preparatory session with a member of the DCD team.
The first meeting
The first meeting will take place Friday 26 June, 10:30am–12:00pm in person (London).
