The Unit Leader will oversee the delivery and implementation of one or more units on the MA Creative Dance Education programme. This role combines teaching, unit coordination, assessment, and student support, contributing to a high-quality postgraduate learning experience.

The MA Creative Dance Education is a globally-oriented postgraduate programme that prepares artists, educators and facilitators to work across a wide range of dance education contexts. The course brings together creative practice, pedagogy, and critical inquiry, supporting students to develop inclusive, responsive and forward-thinking approaches to teaching and learning.

With a strong emphasis on curriculum design, participatory practice and real-world application, the programme includes placement-based learning and engagement with diverse communities.

The Unit Leader will oversee the delivery and implementation of one or more units on the MA Creative Dance Education programme. This role combines teaching, unit coordination, assessment, and student support, contributing to a high-quality postgraduate learning experience.

This post holder will also contribute to the delivery of the Education & Communities pathway on the BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance course, supporting alignment between undergraduate and postgraduate provision.

Placing the student at the centre of their work, the Unit Leader will:

  • Undertake teaching, curriculum delivery, mentoring and assessment within the field of creative dance education (please note that teaching will primarily occur afternoons and evenings until 8:00pm)
  • Act as Unit Leader, overseeing the delivery and evaluation of one or more units
  • Support students in developing pedagogical, creative and professional practices across diverse contexts
  • Contribute to an inclusive, responsive and critically engaged learning environment
  • Support the delivery of the mission and values of The Place.
