These annual fee scales are given as a guideline both for employers and for freelance independent community dance artists. This document encourages good practice in implementing and maintaining recommended
minimum payments across the sector.
They cover four 'levels' of community dance practitioner as set out below:
- Trainee: someone who undertakes to do animateur work under the guidance and supervision of an experienced animateur. The trainee will experience 'on the job' training working alongside other practitioners.
- Scale 1: a new animateur working in their own right or alongside more experienced animateurs. They will be responsible for their own programming within a clearly defined brief and they may be responsible for managing a small budget.
- Scale 2: an experienced animateur who has been working in the field some years or who has relevant experience in a related field. They will be responsible for their own planning and may manage a budget.
- Scale 3: for experienced animateurs or those having significant relevant experience, who are responsible for such things as: programming, management, planning and policy development, fundraising and managing a substantial budget.
