Moving Memories (2011) evaluation
A project developed and delivered by Dancemind designed to enable those affected by dementia access to a weekly dance class

In January 2011, Dancemind launched a yearlong dance and dementia programme called Moving Memories at Thackley Green Specialist Care Centre in Corby, Northamptonshire, run by Shaw Healthcare.

Thackley Green offers an extensive list of services for elderly care needs, including sensory impairment rehabilitation and respite care for those affected by dementia. The program was designed to enable those affected by dementia an access to a weekly dance class.

This evaluation, written by external evaluator Naama Spitzer, examines the outcomes of the project and describes its impact on the participant?s sense of wellbeing, and explores the role that dance may play within care for those living with different stages of dementia and to provide evidence that demonstrates the benefits of dance for the elderly.
