Dance, health and wellbeing
Wednesday 24 July 2024, with Danielle Jones

Join Danielle Jones, Artistic Director of Luminelle, for a one-day course which enables participants to gain a clear overview of theory and practice in the context of Dance, Health & Wellbeing in participatory dance settings. This course will explore the context of dance for health and wellbeing and the shifts in inclusive practice.

Danielle is an industry leading artist, director, and researcher whose work is driven by people and their stories, offering a chance for ordinary human life to be given value and everyday people to be seen.

By attending this course you will:

  • Discuss the term of 'dance in health and wellbeing', and the impact of the last five years of policy and practice as it has affected holistic or socially engaged dance
  • Explore how you are influenced by approaches to defining dance in health and wellbeing terms, and how this has influenced your sense of autonomy
  • Consider perspectives on diversity and inclusion, the positive benefits of evidence-based practice, the need to retain authenticity in artistic voice and values, and how we can draw from all this learning for the benefit of individual approaches.

This one-day course is ideal for both early career artists and more experienced artists considering developing a specialism in this area of work.
